Creation Residency – Resurgence

Maison de la photo de Montréal is proud to present the first edition of Resurgence – a creative residency pilot project.

Produced in collaboration with Wapikoni Mobile, Artexte, B21 Art + Société and Archives de la Ville de Montréal, this pilot project is a creation and exhibition residency in contemporary photography for Indigenous artists that aims to give a space for expressions of different practices as well as artistic reflections specific to the creators of these communities.

The selected photographer will receive:

  • A 4-week residence (residence must be between July 15 and September 15, 2018);
  • A creation grant;
  • A one-hour meeting with each project partner;
  • A solo exhibition in the mezzanine of the Conseil des arts de Montréal;
  • Reprise of the solo exhibition at Carousel à photo;
  • A public presentation of his work.


Selection criteria:

  • Affirms their position as a professional photographer;
  • Creates works for their own account;
  • Is recognized by peers1;
  • Identifies as Indigenous, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis;
  • Presents artwork that is, produced, published, publicly displayed, or marketed by a professional broadcaster or educational institution.
